How does SayMyName choose pronunciation audio?

SayMyName searches real human voice pronunciation sources first and uses AI-generated audio only as a fallback.

Why are native-script and romanized names separate pronunciations?

A romanized name and a native-script name can have different sounds, phonemes, and audio, so SayMyName treats each language variant as its own playable entry.

Hear any name pronounced correctly.

Pronunciation strategy

We search multiple crowd-sourced databases for real-person pronunciations and use AI only as a last resort.

We do not cache provider audio on our servers due to licensing.

If a full name is not found but a real voice for the first name is available, we play the first name. If only the last name is found, we do not mix it with AI for consistency, so we fall back instead.

Voice Sources

We prefer real human recordings — first via NameShouts, then Forvo. When no human recording exists, we fall back to AI synthesis by ElevenLabs. Each playback row shows whether you're hearing a human () or AI () voice.

Privacy First

Use the app without an account, or sign in to sync names and lists. Shared links expose selected names, photos and recordings to their recipients. Read Privacy for storage, retention and account deletion.
